In a little contrast with aerospace or oil & gas industries, turbomachines have less usages in automotive industry. Fuel systems, automatic transmission systems and turbocharger systems in diesel engines are some examples.
Design and manufacturing of some gear pumps for heavy duty machines is an example which are completely explained in gear division introduction.
On the the field of automatic transmission system we had successfully completed a project on the PRIDE automobile torque-converter operational analysis in 2001 by the order of MEGAMOTORS Co. Torque converters are used to transmit power in automobiles equipped with automatic transmissions. The goal of the project was modeling and analysis of the torque converter according to the Iran's environmental conditions.

By the results of the project MEGAMOTORS could decide whether this type of torque-converter can be used on PRIDE automobiles or not. This project had made an effort to analyze 3D fluid flow in torque-converters by using Navier-Stokes equations. Change in enviromental conditions makes change in fluid viscosity and the effect of this change on the variation of torque ratio versus speed ratio had been investigated in this project. A software by the name of HydroDADS is also developed generally with the capability of 3D modeling of torque converter components and assembly, mesh generation and CFD analysis of the flow to output pressure, velocity and temperature gradients across torque converter sections.
